I am working on my daughters boyfreinds car. Its a 6 cyl VK and stopped working yesterday. I went out to have a look at it and the EST distributor seems to have been replaced by an electronic type. After a lot of f#@%ing around I found the rotor wasnt reaching the button on the cap or the contacts around the edge of the cap. I spaced it up with a bit of wire coiled around the shaft which got the car running enough to get it home. What I need to know and hope someone can tell me is whether the distributor cap for the VK is different to the one in the VH (heightwise). I tried to get this info from a parts store but they were no help at all. the shaft has some vertical play in it but it doesnt seem to be exessive.
Any help and advice will be appreciated
Thanks
Dave
Not sure if there the same mate, but I have a VK cap in perfect order that I just removed to my car (swapped for a custom ford motorcraft unit). If you live close its yours.
yer i think the vk one is taller, you might need to replace the whole unit because it has a carbon button in the top in the middle that could be broken
