cheers

p.s is it easy to do?

Ok I am about to do this conversion when I get some spare time.
You can order an adapter plate through Autobarn or Supercheap put out by a company called redline.
Also the original company I found that do them in lynx have a look at http://www.lynxcorp.com.au/shopping/...18&Value=29.15
It looks pretty close to being on the money although I havent confirmed it yet.
My next stage will be to head to auto barn or supacheap and get them to get a price for me. The Lynx one is around $30.
Problem with the conversion.
The Weber uses an electirc choke controled from your alternator, so if this isnt hooked up the car is going to be a bitch when its cold. To get around this I have been thinking of using the air bypass from an EFI VK its temporature controlled I should be able to get it to work, The main reason im thinking of using it is its sitting in a box left over from my VK as im installing aftermarket EFI.
Other option is a switch on the dash with a variable resistor
*mind you its only theory I havent tried any of this yet*
Another option which has been used before is an adjustable voltage controller chip (Like a FET) and run 7v to the choke. Make sure you run it off your ignition.
Other things you may have issues with are throttle linkages & vacume lines.
I have a weber sitting at home in a drum os deisel waiting to be rebuild & bolt on. I have had an unexpected engine rebuild in my good car so its delayed this for about a month.
Also have a read of some of the older threads on the forum the same question has been asked in the last month or so.
cheers

i know but no of them told me whee i can get the adaptor plate from.
i don't know but this does not seem to be what you are talking about, it reads like this under the picture of the plate
"Product Name: ADAPT KIT DCD 238 GM 4CYL
Your Price: $29.15 "
i am more concerned about the 4cyl part
cheers buddy

If oyu contact your nearest auto barn or supercheap they _should_ be able to give you the exact part number. I wasnt going off description rather the picture going off what the carbies look like.
the conversion is on my list of things to do but at the moment im rebuilding an engine for my good car, so playing with the runabout isnt happening
cheers

ok sweet, good luck buddy
ok bad news i rang up a carby place to see if i can get the adaptor plate and the guy i talked to said i would have to start re-drilling???
so i figured it wasn't going to be as simple as i thought.
cheers
scott
p.s but what is simple to do with cars
Don't be worried with the 4cyl comment - camiras & VC/VH 4cyl ran the same basic varajet as the VK carb (just recalibrated).
i think i am going to scrap the idea but thanks anyway

Heres some info I found while searching for information on this conversion awhile ago. (BTW I have no idea who "John" is)

Hi Guys,
I looked into making my own manifold, actually modifying an EFI manifold but its too muchwork for me at the moment. KC also do an adapter plate, it looks like the way to go for a street car. Last price I got was around $35.
Anyway I have come across a complete EFI setup for my daily driver so im not bothering with the XE-XF carb. Anyone want to buy a complete cheap carb? reasonable offers accepted.
cheers
Scott
Where abouts are you?
if you are meaning me i am in adelaide.

NSW Central Coast. If you want I can post Pictures of the carb. Its currently soaking in a drum of deisel. Well its been there for the last 3 monthsSoaking it helps remove and soften carbon and other gunk. I would put a rebuild kit though it before I use it though as it was sitting on the shelf where I purchased it from for some time.
If you want it posted I would need to dry it and blow it out before I could ship it anywhere. I actually have been doing a clean out of alot of 6cyl 202 bits making room for soon to be arriving EFI V8.
I have a disassembled 202 race engine requiring rings bearings block & gaskets. I will be posting a parts list in a few days when I finalise pricing.
cheers

Hrm, I'd be interested, esp. if you ran a rebuild kit through it
You got any decent Holley 2bbl manifolds to suit the 12 port head? I figure I can run a Redline or Cain manifold for the Holleys and track down a Holley -> Weber adaptor plate - no doubt a ####load easier to find than a Weber -> Varishit![]()
carb sold as is I dont have time to rebuild it. Im devoting my time to a V8 conversion on my good car.
Carbs are easy enough to rebuild, last kit I bought for a varajet was $28, weber shouldnt be much different. The kit comes with instructions as long as you pull it appart and take note where everything goes its a piece of cake probably take a couple of hours if that, just dont skip things or try to cut corners esp take your time getting your float level right
I tried a few different float positions on the varajet on the car im driving atm and found 7mm worked better than the recommended 8mm, unless the ruler was out
I have heard the holley carbs dont go so well on the 202s could have just been the size or something they were using but, if your chasing power just go EFI dont waste time with a carb.
If you want to put the weber on just buy a adapter plate wont cost much. I could see the whole job buying the carb, rebuild kit &adapter plat costing about $100-$120 all up
