Hey all. Just wondering if the pump can come off after the bell housings removed, or does the valve body have to come out and it pulled throught the inside of the housing. Hav,nt done a trimatic 4 over 20 years and can't remember![]()
Also what are the torque specs of the pump/bell housing bolt after removing and replacing?
Also, the 6 and 8 pumps are interchangeable, aren't they?
Bump-Any1?
I'll go and see the trans guy 2day then, hey?
I remember watching a bloke take my old vh trimatic apart and he removed the pump then all the clutches etc and reconditioned the parts that needed it and I am sure we did not touch the valvebody.
Heres a bit of info

sorry, no idea, but seeing as you did it 20 years ago, why not just start pulling it apart, you'll soon remember. are 6cyl and V8 trimatic parts interchangable as i have a V8 trimatic and i've got a working 6cyl trimatic i was goingto sell but might keep it parts are usable

Ok, the pump is interchangeable, just got to put the pressure valve/spring from the 8 in2 the 6 pump for the 8's line pressure.
Found out the bell housing may be warped-requiring the back of it to be re-faced and maybe the pump replaced. What sux is that I'll have to put the SS back on the road to cart dirty trans shit from A to B...
