ticking noise whilst driving

heya people,

i think i got a bad batch of fuel, combined with some extended hwy driving on a 35 degree day, while towing a 2.5tonne trailer, has effected my car...
i was wondering "what it is" when, if i am cruising down the road, either when the engine is cold or at operating temp, going 60kph in fourth gear, if i put the accelerator 3/4 of the way down, the engine starts "ticking" and sorta "panting"/"popping" not a tappet noise, but more like something to do with the fuel andthe carby...

on that hot day, the fuel started vaporising in the fuel line, cos it got so hot under the hood, and the engine was popping quite loudly at me, and i had no power untill i backed off the accelerator, and let the engine cool down a bit..... would this have wrecked mycarby?

Maybe its pinging....check ya timing.

choke, flooding, spark plugs or leads + timing, tune up, fuel pump, exhaust holes. are the things i would look at first.

i think i may have a small extractor leak.... and i just found a loose plug, that the guy who fit the extractors cross-threaded..... bastard.... hope he hasnt fu*&ed the thread on the block.....

now i cant drive to work cos i dont have my 5th cylinder..... fantastic
