Default Need help! Blue motor of unknown origin into VH..

    Gday guys,
I've bought a blue 202 to put into Vh, my VH was built in late 83. The Blue 202 i have bought i think came out of a WB, which i was told by a few people would be fine to put into a VH, however i rang Vic Roads yesterday and the lady seemed to think that i may need to do more research on the motor i have bought and i may need to get a letter from holden to say there was no emission modifications made to the blue motor in the period of time when the VH was originally sold! Does anyone know of such changes to the blue 202 between 81 and 83??? I have already started spending money on the 202 i've bought so I dont want to scrap the project or have to buy a black motor! Can anyone shed some light on the situation??
    Cheers, Rhys

Wat pollution gear does the motor have on it? All blue's should have rubber hoses going everywhere, and some also have an air pump which pumps air into the exhaust port to help the exhaust gases get out better.

About all the rubber hoses, well I'm not sure bout them so can't be very specific. But if u have a few rubber hoses going around the place, and one of those black canisters connected to the carby (sits with the overflow bottle) then I think u should be fine.

The 202's didn't have the air pump, they also had alot less pollution gear on them compared to the 173. The 173 is what i have at the moment and im upgrading to a 202, I also think it varies from state to state on the leaniency of the emission controls etc..Anyone else have any information?

As far as i know, all blue 202's, be that from a VC, VH or WB are the same, only the carby might be a little different and engine number prefix will be different
Oh and correct, no Blue 202 had the air pump, the black EST 2020s do however!

why not just get all the pollution gear from a black motor and mod it to fit the blue motor? that would work wouldn't it?

Are they really that sharp? What you dont tell them wont hurt anyone .The pollution gear is a bit of a farce anyway...most cars have it bypassed or totally taken off .All the sensors are too expensive and what pollution gear there is robs the car of some power that it doesnt have a lot of anyway.
Mine is working to look at but nothing works in reality apart from the carbon canister.
