hey guys,
has anyone retrofitted the VT steering knuckle, lower control arms and hub into VC commmie?
I am looking at doing the conversion to make it easier to source tarmac rally spec coilovers, aditionally the VT items are much stronger for race application
is it a straight swap or is there a large amount of fabrication required?
cheers for any info?
I havent personally done it myself but I looked at the similar thing when I was doing my EFI 5L conversion for the same reason.
Problem is the later cars have a wider wheel track so you will then have problems with wheel offset, track width, caster and steering anchermen angles.
The solution is the standard VK type struts can be modified to allow the adjustable coil over type shocks to be fitted.

but if it's just going to be a rally car then it wouldn't matter [offset] would it?
thanks for the reply guys,
yeah your right re track width, not to much of an issue as I will be fitting VC flares and subsequently will have to widen the track also, the main concern is of the suspension geometry?
cheers
adam
If your fitting the flares etc, I personally would do go for it with a stock VT front end and just see what happens shouldnt be too expensive as an experiment. If all goes well then fit your race gear in.
