    Default VK Front Speakers

    Hey all,

I was just wondering what peoples opinions were on were to place front speakers in a VK. Also, is there already profile hols cut in the doors and/or dash ready for speakers? the same as there is for the back right speaker. I currently just have 2 6" pioneer speakers in the back, and they're good, but I really want front speakers too just so that the music seems louder. Also, if it's possible, could people who have put front speakers into their VK, post some piccies so I could have a look see at how you made yours look.

    Cheers

    Luke

P.S. I know there is a Car Audio forum part, but I figured that usually people who own a VK will look here so I am just targetting the people who have the came car as mine.

I rekon speakers in the front doors look dodgy if ya just cut a hole in the door skin and screw them in....to make it look nice ya need pods IMO.

Even if ya buy a set of VR/VS door pods and screw them into the door, then put the speakers in them.

    Default door speakers

You could try the speaker pods from the VR VS doors, and you get pockets with them. You just have to open the door a bit further to get in and out of the car.
You will also have to cut the door lining and the inner shell of the door to fit as well as small holes for the screws that hold them on. They come with either a plastic grill or a very hard to get metal grill. The genuine speakers aren't much value but the pods still accept other speakers the same size. I used a couple of Sony Explod's.

    Good luck working it out.

You need pods because the speakers will hit the window if that any bigger than 4" (no sure about 5 1/4")

heres mine (6 1/2") the idiot before me cut the 6 1/2" holes and tweeter holes Also if you put then in the doors put some dynamat.sound proofing in because its just as loud outside as inside if you don't lol

Also you can put 2 4" speakers in the stock speaker hole. (middle of dash) All you need to do is cut a piece of wood to fit into the 5X8 hole and then 2 4" holes and mount them in there.

Hey, thanks for the replies everyone. I am pretty sure I'm going to put the speakers in the door now. I was talking to a mate last nite, and he suggested using the speakers i have in the back parcel shelf in the front doors, but leave the grilles over the holes in the back, and put a sub in the boot. Which will allow more bass to get through, which sounds like a great idea.

Thanks for the ideas guys, they have been very helpful

    Luke
