Default Closed door respray? how much est and door prices

    hello,
i am thinking about getting a closed door respray done on my vk in the same colour and wanted to know how much it could/should/would cost? i would do the prep work if that makes it cheaper

also how much would straight doors cost from wreckers? i want drives front and rear.

If u do the prep work urself some places won't touch ur car. If u remove everything from the outside which needs removing (door handles, mirrors), so when it goes in, they basically give it a light sand, tape it up, prepsol and put it in the oven and paint then I'd say u might get away with $1500 if ur lucky. Last year we got a van in which was after the same as u, except it was just a work horse so any small dents didn't matter....that was around the $1200 mark I rekon to just get a quick external respray. I don't do heaps of work at the shop, just a bit of voluntary work to give me sumfin to do.

But yeah, a few years ago my bro rubbed back his VC and it was ready for paint, he got in contact with all our spray painting business's here where I live and no one would do it.....just coz if the paintwork turns out crap coz of the customers prep work, then it could fall back on the company.

You're exactly right. Even the slightest imperfection in the prep work can send the fonal paint job to shit. And prep work is a lot more complicated than just sanding it back and slapping a coat of primer on.

If I were you, I'd just save that little bit extra and get them to do it all.

Unless you have done prep work a few times before and know exactly the best way to do it. Thats if you find a place that would do it if you did the prep.
