Default Manifold options for a 465 Holley??

    Gday guys,
just quickly, wondering if anyone has a holley 465 on their blue/black 6 and what intake manifold they're using?? Or if anyone knows of someone who uses one on their car??
    Cheers, Rhys

Redline and Cain both make 4-barrel manifolds for holden 6s, I had a Redline one on my red 202... went like hell but works best with a heat stove pipe to direct some heat from the extractors to the bottom of the intake as mine had sidewall fuel condensation issues... I dont know that one is better than the other, I hear the Cain ones are good too. paid about $160 for mine secondhand new from a wreckers in Lonsdale SA goin back 10 years.

Do Redline or Cain even make 'performance' manifolds for blue/black heads? I don't think I've ever seen one....only ever seen them for red motors.

Might just have to use an adaptor plate or sumfin wth ur existing standard manifold.

I honestly dont know, I had mine on a red motor with a red head, it may even be a case of hunting down a good red head to modify, if it has to have a 4 barrel holley, they're pretty cheap and almost giveaways now... I chose the 4 barrel over triples for ease of tuning and reliability in a car that was driven everyday with plenty of fun on a friday/saturday night, was a much cheaper option than triples back then too.

I advise checking on the interchangability between red/blue/black heads on a 202, its been a fair while since i played with one.

To start with when I get mine back and put it 2gether I'm just gonna use the standard varajet carb until I get the motor run in, then I'm thinkin bout goin EFI after that, using the VK EFI gear.

The other day I came across this:
    http://forums.tascommodores.com/inde...showtopic=4858

It's a Weber carb and manifold for $100, dunno if it's still for sale tho. By lookin at the pics it seems to have an adaptor plate. That will bolt right up to ur head, the only thing I'd say would need modifying is to somehow fit the accelerator cable and fuel line, dunno how hard it would be...I'm guessing the seller could help ya out with that.

Yes redline make "performance" manifolds for the three engines. Their called the torker series. If you goin for a two barrel go a series two. The manifold fits all three motors. As for the four barrel im not too sure about interchangabillity i would expect it to be the same story as the two barrel manifold.

Hey Dan I don't suppose u could post a pic up of ur torker intake hey? Just wondering wat the ports look like.....as the red head is 9 port, and the blue and black are 12 port (as u know), so just wondering what an intake looks like if it fits both. Cheers.

The ports are just bigger in the intake manifold on the series two to allow for the different size in shape between the ports on the heads.

Yea "was" till something broke. Still have everything. Just need to open the motor to see what the story is. Pretty sure its a bearing.

Forgot to mention that i had to grind down the tabs on the manifold to allow it to sit properly between the studs.

Really mate dont change the varijet unless your going over 160 horses and ive proved that on a dyno. Unless of course its knackered.
The inlet manifold is kind of restrictive though, too much vacuum flat out. (about 4 inches)
I'd go for the vk injection setup straight off personally, i scored one from upullit the other week, everything bar the computer (as i already have a Haltec fuel only system) for $150.
Ive got 4's 6's and 8's and there all good fun
    Happy horsepowering

A Holley on a 6......just have a bucket of fuel and throw it at the engine. Was never a big fan of the Holley's at all, good race carby but not very good for the street. You would get a better fuel/air ratio with something like a quadrajet if going 4 barrel or I had a Carter on a red motor with a dingo 4 barrel manifold adapted down to 2 barrel. Was on a 186 in a Bedford van. Good economy and used to pull wicked burnouts.
