Default Need help with Carby 4 blue 202! What should i be looking at for these mods...

    Gday Guys,
the Blue 202 is pretty much fully pulled down...She's getting a full ACL Race Series Engine Rebuild Kit, with 40 or 60 thou oversize pistons, a brand new yella terra head, a blue racer (crane) cam, anti pump up lifters, extractors, starfire rods and an exedy heavy duty clutch plus a few more little bits and pieces..I have no idea what sort of carbie and manifold I'm going to need for this kind of setup, or where I am able to source one from for a blue motor, seen so many around for red motors it's not funny! Carby and manifold wise, What suggestions do you guys have for a nicely worked blue 202??
    Any help much appreciated,
    Cheers Rhys

You could go 350 (2 barrel) or 465 (4 barrel) Holley carbs with their matching redline manifold. Get you diz "referenced" and get either carb built on the dyno with the correct jet/float level settings, metering blocks and valves. Should be running sweet after that! Many people have many opinions what works and what doesnt.

cheers mate, i've ordered an adaptor plate to fit a 350 onto the standard manifold, I'm going to modify the standard inlet manifold and block the holes off from the exhaust manifold to the inlet and take the ****ty air stove off and block that off as well. Hopefully that and jetting the 350 holley carb up as well as setting the float level should make her run pretty well.

    Could go EFI

But....apparently the stock computer aren't very good after u start modding the engine. So u could get a VN delco computer and loom and wire that in. Not 100% sure wat it was, but there was one thing which made putting the delco's on the old holden 6's a bit of a head f**k. A mate was telling me sumfin bout pulses going to the computer, sumfin like the VN computer needs 9, and the ol' 6's only put out 6 pulses.....or sum **** like that.

I'm gonna go EFI with mine after I run it in...she'll be freshly rebuilt with a few goodies (173 bored out to a 186, fully balanced, HC head, crow valve springs, crow cam) so I'm hoping I'll get away with a stock computer for a while, until I find a new head.

Sounds like a good plan mate. If your after for something easy and cheap (setup cost) stick with a carb.
