    Default cheap power

    hey

are there any tricks to getting more power out of a blue 253 motor....

i know a CAM would be good, but i dont have the time to fit it..... exhaust is done, but other than an electric fuel pump, i need more power!!!!

    any ideas?

(or stop f*&king around and get a 308)
    Have a good one

get a 308. The 253 is a great motor for reliability and was made for the tradesman as a "Aussie V8" for the working people. Ive read countless street machine mags and people write in asking how to get more power out of it but most of the time they just say get a 308. But if you want to I guess you could look at getting the carb swapped. But thatd increase your fuel usuage. Maybe a copy of the HDT cold air intake or something might give some more power once the motor is warm
    Cheers

ok for a start. get a different manifold. elderbrock torquer for example. and a 465 holly. that will help with the power
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

The only way to get more power out of any N/A car is to throw more fuel at it. Bigger carby and better intake manifold. Then you are looking at time....cam, valves, solid lifters and machine the heads to bump the compression. Also a good 2 1/2" single rather than twin will give you more torque.
I would recommend a quadrajet with vacuum secondaries over a holley as I think they suck too much fuel, unless you jet it down to the smaller 350 jets.
