intrest in worked 253

ok i am thinking of selling the 253 out of my hz.
its a red 253. it has an elderbrock torquer manifold on it with a 600 holley. shaved and slightly ported heads heavy duty valve springs.
it had new bearings and rings 20,000ks ago. it has a stage 3 crane cam with new lifters.
near new water pump
chrome rocker covers, chrome air filter, chrome oil filter cover.
it will also come with a 2500rpm stall and a reco'd (never been in the car auto)

this engine was putting out roughly 160rwkws (i think the dyno was out)

i was thinking of selling the whole lot for $1500 if your intrested let me know
i wil post more up if i can remember.
its still in the car so it can be heard running

to fit this to a vb/vc/vh/vk you will need to change the sump and the oil pick up

253's? Theyre boat anchors bro. The Torker is too big and its way over carburated. honestly theyre hopeless thats why no one wants it. not trying to be a smartass, just saying.

ok thats your oppion its not every one elses. just like i dont like vls but i dont go arround telling every one there car is a boat anchor. next you will be saying the cam is to big for it.
man i know its over carbied but the torker isnt too big for it. i had a 465 holley on it but i swaped it for the 600 when i rebuilt the 465 and just left the 600 on it.

In defence I will say that the 253 is a very underated engine. With the right attention these thing will rev to nearly 10 000 rpm and the torque they produce at 3-4k rev range is amazing. In a Commodore they go very well as they rev faster than the 308. Nice little V8 for economy and produces decent power.

if i had the money xcop5l it would be in my commodore now but i dont so its not i know of 253's that beat 308's on the drag strip so they cant be that bad i have never heard a bad word against them so where are you getting your info from mate

I've heard lots of bad things about them. But I've owned one, and it wasn't too bad at all. As for 160rwkw... buboowwww. Not gonna happen. Maybe 125ishrwkw?

Nah its not about your car or the cam in it.

Like im saying its not a personal shot at you, and i dont lose any sleep if all your cars have 253's installed in them.
Where do i get my experience? Ive been doing cars for 25 years, thats got to be worth something at least.

As far it been a boat anchor its just colourfull speech, i didnt mean it to come across like i said your sister was ugly or anything. What im getting at is if your going to spend good hard earned dont spend it on a 253.
your Holley and Torker are worth money for sure.

Honestly mate that Torker is too big for the 253, a 253 will go alot harder on its stock manifold and the Rochester Quadrajet, an Edelbrock performer at the very most. You put that big torker and 600 Holley on that poor little 8 and the torque will fall away like a bag of sh!t, you put Torkers on a small block 350 minimum, or 308 if your flat to metal on the drag strip.
Ive done all that crap with 253's when i was a teenager, ive spent enough on motors to buy a second house lol.

ok in my defence i bought the car with every thing done to it except the 600. but i was friends with the person who built it and i assisted with the build.
