Default Quick Q Re: Rear springs + others

    Hi guys,

any help on these issues would be great.

    1. ive currently got the original oil shockies and stocko springs in my VK, which are really past their due date - a bit of weight in the back and the towbar and mudflaps scrape on everything.

as getting new shocks and springs and having them installed will most likely cost near $600 and as im looking for stiffer rear springs to stop the car sagging with a bit of weight, i wonder is it possible to cut costs and go to the wreckers and try to get some rear springs from a wagon for cheap (which were stiffer, i believe?) and chuck those in or should i not touch 2nd hand springs?

Shock absorbers will have to be new, obviously.

    2. Installing calais/SL/E armrests into a Vacationer - how difficult is it to swap the standard ones over to the Calais ones with the arm-grab? are there any special screws or anything which i need to buy for them?

    3. How much would you pay for a carby rebuild of a 202? A mate said he got his done for $250. Essentially im looking at this as the car is still flat-spotting on acceleration after replacing the fuel filter and giving the carby a clean. Also, when the 2nd'ary valve opens (so >2/3 is used), it tends to hesitate and takes 2 seconds or so to build up to full throttle, and even then I dont think its operating as efficiently as it should be.

    Cheers.

    Kurt

as far as the wagon springs go you can do it but may live to regret it, i put them in mine and tookj them out not long after they were just to rigid for normal road use, and as for the carby i am guessing it is the original? if so throw it away and go for the weber from an xf falcon, all you need is the conversion plate.

Regarding the suspension, if u shop around u can get change out of $400 for a front and back set of shockies and springs.

About ur carby, I've seen a company on eBay selling freshly rebult varajets for about $70.
