could be a fuel pressure issue
hi guys got the old girl to fire and it will start on arostart but dies 5 seconds later i have checked that there is power to the injectors and there is also there is fule in the rail but it just dosent seem to be injecting the fule ( pulled the injectors out and there was no fule coming out) has anyone got any ideas on what i could do to get her going? also the error light dosnt work when i short the 2 pins on the aldl conector
could be a fuel pressure issue
ok i think it might be the ecu coz if i short out the blue lead from the injectors to the neg side of the battery it will open the injectors and the car starts take the lead off and it stalls.... any ideas? fule pressure is fine.
*edit* Worked it out lol i missed a plug

Can The Setup Bolt Straight In I Was Told You Had To Change All The Front End Also Brakes And All Please Clarify Someone
You don't need to replace the whole front end. However it would be easier if you where to, as it would remove some of the problems when it come to the steering rack etc
My was done by only replacing the K-frame which the engine bolts to. I kept the VK suspension and steering rack. Howwever in doing this i had to move the mounts for the steering rack on the K-frame.
If you want to do it the easiest way possible, then changing the front suspension with the K-frame is the way to go.
If you read the thread from start to end you should have a good idea of whats involved.
WILL THE VK EVER MAKE IT BACK ON THE ROAD
wouldnt mind doing this converison some day
Well, im in the middle of a transplsnt into my SL/E at the moment, scrapped the carby 308 and traumatic and just bolted in the efi 304 and kitted up T700, but havin a few probs with the tailshaft and rear crossmember, is there an easy and cheaper way to fix these issues by using genuine (2nd hand) parts to overcome the problem of a tailshaft being too long and a x-member not fitting???
If ya got any easy solutions, i thank you greatly!
cheers...
Robbarelli.
No wah to that!
Never late with ROB308...
They're are plenty of tailshaft specalists that can cut down your tailshaft and re-balance it.
I am only new to this forum so this would already have been covered. I am doing a VR v6 convertion on my vc and the only thing that has me stumped is the coded key. Do vr's have them and if so can you remove it.
on my VP it has the security function via a separate key hole in the passenger side door frame at the front. i'm pretty sure the VR updated the security system to be ECU controlled. i'm not sure how you'd go about bypassing it but i remember reading a member suggesting a bypass / piggy back box to override it. maybe one of the ECU familiar guys can help.
The conversion write up is awesome and is / has been a wonderful resource for me in the lead up to my conversion.
One thing i havent seen though is much in the way of options for the auto gear selector choises. I'd really like to keep the stock look of the VK selector but i dont know if its possible due to the extra position in the gear selection of the VP, i had thought the "blue" D was computer controlled for the lockup converter. And on the other hand i've looked at the B&M / Hurst options but they only have what seems to be a std 3 gate setting for the TH700. I'd really appreciate some piks of any seen or input/idea's on this.
Both my VK and VP have the diff code as GU8, would i be correct in assuming they're both identical diffs? (just the VP being 52mm wider, and perhaps different splining)? i ask this because i'd like to retain the VK diff but use the VP's discs on the rear. this brings me to my next issue, are the 25 spline and 28 spline axles the same diameter? i'd hate to go buy the disc bearings and seals for the swap and find out the seals are not going to work. I've read through the diff section and the brakes section and cannot seem to find the info as it applies to this situation.
you can also have the VATS deleted from the memcal which basically means you remove the security feature

just buy the plug if a jobs worth doing its worth doing right huh? why would you want to build this car to race? might as well just strip out the vn and use it. dodgy wiring starts fires and ****. you don't want to be the clown cooking marsh mellows on the straight
just got myself a vk this morning {traded my vr lol}. i wanna do a conversion and will probly end up doing the v6 due to its easiest. now i have a complete vn series 2 parts car{auto}, has complete engine, front suspension and brakes, cat converter {will get a custom exhorst} but i wanna use my manual conversion i got instead of the auto. other then the wiring loom, is this all i will need? i have the manual tailshaft but will probly have to source a manual computer or if i can just the memcal. what i want to do is get the v6 in all engineered then drop in a 4.2lt stroker and charge it for a strip/street car. wanna get into this asap cause 3.3 lt autos suck lol
VN and VP theres no difference between auto and manual computers, so you'll have no trouble using them. The only time you'll encounter a problem is when your trans is from a car that has the electronically controlled ones (VS, not sure if VR have this aswell)
With the tail shaft, i just used the front half from the conversion car, and the rear half already on my VK (Wagon)

Series 1 or 2 doesn't matter. Just use the computer in your donor car. VR is the only time you'll encounter problems.

But the vk only has one link with 2 seperate wires. Same with the ignition, the ends dont match. Any help would be great.
Thankyou

All good, was getting ahead of myself... found that the 2 white screw in plugs on the brake housing under the dash fit into the vk brake housing. I just unscrewed the single vk one and replaced it with one of the vn plugs, and put the other one into the unoccupied hole. I also used the vn steering arm instead of the vk one because the ignition and indicator plugs arnt the same.![]()

Hi my name is Danny, I have an VK SL Holden Commodore Wagon 1984 model. I have done all the body work on it and a mate has given me a VN V6 series 1 engine just wondering if I can put that engine into the VK body? If so I need some advice as to the best way to do this. I have had two mechanics advise me not to do it, because the cost would be too high to convert it, but I haven`t found a VK 308 engine and I am looking for one. Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer me.
