Hi Danny, a vk v6 conversion is really not that costly as long as you know what your doing, the best sites to use for vk v6 conversions would be either this site just look up the forums under vb-vk or v6 conversion from vb-vk or you could use this site VK Calais Project it is also known as v6vktk. Both sites have step by step guides, but if you need anymore help private post me or email me at maniac26@bigpond.com as I have just recently been doing this conversion. Goodluck with your decisions, Rob.

How have people got around an electronic speedo in the auto v6 box being able to read on the mechanical speedo dash?
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
gday i got a few questions i dont think i saw answered but forgive me if u have already. Is it basically the same method to convert into a vh? also crs and stuff sell the kits but do u really need it all?? cant most of it be modified to fit? and also when bolting up the vn k-frame can u leave it with the vn power steering rack?
-commodore - holdens driving future and for those who dont like the scenery-
can any one help me i want to put a vx motor into my vk how much trouble is it my vk is only an extc and i know all about the fuel lines and what not but any info will be appreciated
hey guys just wondering if anyone has tackled this kind of conversion as im almost finished and pretty much just have the wiringloom and selecter to do but was wondering if there is an dramas to look out for with putting in the vt one in or with staying with the vh one i understand that with the vh one i might possibly lose first gear as it wont be able to slide down to first gear??? any help would be good
Hi everyone im new to just commodores and am also doing a v6 conversion into my vc just wanted to know if anyone has some pics of there v6 installed into the car and aslo want to know if there is anyone in vic that dose the kit to transplant the motor. thanks
I am doing the V6 T5 conversion into a VB. Can anyone advise me the best way, any way, cheapest way to connect the speedo. I prefer to keep the existing speedo.
Thanks Pete
what sort of differences are there if i was to put an eco into it?
I am nearly finished my first VH-V6 conversion done everything from front to back the only thing that has stopped me is the tailshaft its about 4" too long is there another tailshaft i could use have been told that a GQ Patrol tailshat will fit just have to chage yoke if anyone has any ideas let me know thanks
using VN diff ,t700
Sorry to bump.... Have read this thread with interest.. Was going to post thread about using VN struts in VK.. thanks guys
Floor it and swerve driving skool
One other little thing on this topic - sort of...
Will a VP Steering collum fit into a VH,
I'm about to start a conversion VP into VH, and am going to be putting the dash in aswell - yes its possible, just need to modify the mounts a little, and get rid of the side vents - seen it done...
So pretty much everything A/C - heater, all electrics, dash, the lot - but keeping the VH seats, for obvious reasons.... velour seats = comfy as a mofo!
Just wondering if the steering collum will go it there too??
When I did my VN to Vk conversion the tailshaft fitted as is, the transmission crossmember bolted straight up a couple of holes back on the body. The only thing not mentioned in a very good overview is the steering rack. You have to use the VN rack as the VK one fouls the exhaust on RHS from memory. By the way my VK was a late VK running VL diff ratio (although drum brakes) from memory 2.23:1. Excellent ratio for the VN V6 as it doesn't hunt 4 to 3 to 4 up hills etc.

so as i have a vb it would be easier to get a vn donor??
I have a 81 VH with a 202. It doesnt have a computer does it as there is nothing behind the left kick panel. Also do you know if I can use the VN power steering rack. I have a VN lexcen as a donor car and want to do all the homework before I start doing the conversion. What about the centre console ? Much modification needed ?
I have recently replaced my VR engine and loom with the supercharged 6. I have a V6 conversions loom and engine loom to suit VN-VR V6 to early commodore for sale. Comes with manual and auto ecu. Cost me over $500. Just plug and play.
im thinking of this conversion myself as i have a donor vr, does anybody have wiring diagrams for both a vr commodore and a vk carby model commodore or a diagram of the adaptor loom so i can wire it up myself any help with these would be really apreciated thanks.
Stick with vb-vk front suspension for sure or if you want to be probmatic go for the vr-vs but don't go vn as they a weak spot between front sway bar to strut as when bushes wear they tend to bend the rod so for vn-vp they sell conversion kits back to vb-vk style as they have a short stuby rod to lower control arm rather than long 1 to strut.
I am now nearing the completion of my V6 conversion to my VK. I have an Ecotec with electronic auto trans from a VS fitted. I need to know if there any cost effective ways of getting the original mechanical speedo to hook-up and work with the auto trans ? I know that Castlemaine Rod shop sells a converter box, that converts electronic signal to cable drive, but at nearly $900 it is pricey.
