Hi guys
With the float level in varajet carbs in VKs, all my doumentation says that the float level should be 8mm. (Gregories and GMH)
When you talk to any carby/fuel injection specialist, they all say that the float level should be around 6mm and their measurement goes down to about two decimal places.
Does anyone know why and which one is correct.
Thanks
Its 8. Well thats what ive set them at without any problems.
I set float levels so that to top of the float is parallel to the top of the chamber when the needle is closed. Not a precise measurement but it's a good rule of thumb. Levels need to be adjusted to suit driving styles though. If you drive hard, raise it a bit.
So are these slightly different float levels going to cause any problems at all?
So would the difference of 2mm cause any fuel efficiency problems?
Also, approximately what fuel economy should I be getting with a VK berlina, 6 cyl, carb and NO EST.
Thanks

The different float levels will make bugger all difference. Occasionally if you corner long and hard it may stutter due to the fuel moving against one side of the bowl away from the pick up.
Being a Berlina it would be an auto? I would guess 14-15 lt per 100kms would be a good figure.
