202 gearbox

was just wondering what a good choice for a gearbox on a 202 would be?
getting a manual conversion done to it.

( if my current auto ringear is screwed a manual conversion would fix that problame because of the new transmision plate rite?)

sorry not too machanicaly minded.

also if any one knows, does anywhere in sa ( eg city dismant's )do reconditioning on YOUR engine? or do you have to purchase a already recon one.

An early Celica 5 speed with the steel case is the strongest box you will put behind a straight 6. The alloy ones are common and they split.

city dismantlers can supply and fit or they can also just rebuild your existing one.

Interested to hear what a mechanic charges for your manual conversion man. No doubt the best thing you can do to an EFI 202

The Strongest box would be a T5 or Supra Box not a Celica box to put behind a 202. A 6cyl Holden or Falcon T5 would be sweet or a supra box.

If you would be happy with a 4 speed a M20 Aussie 4 speed would be quite fine and are quite strong esp behind a 202.
