had a quick look and couldnt fine what feul to put in, just got a free VC today and wanna fire it up but got no petty. Can i use unleaded or i gotta get the lead additive to put in??
You can use straight unleaded, but it would be best to also use the additive as well, altho not essential. A lot of people run straight unleaded when they should be using the additive as well, all it will do is stuff up the valves and seats. You'll still get months even years possibly out of a motor using straight unleaded without the additive tho.

dont wanna chance it lol. i'll use additive
if you dont wanna use the additive fill up with 95 ( at least ) or 98 octance petrol as its better quality it doesnt wear down the valve seats AS quick ( it will still do it just slower )
We got rep back, yaaay!
It's not the quality of fuel that wears out the valve seats and guides, it's the lack of lubrication ie: lead. Take the lead out and you get upper cylinder wear, so you have to put some lubrication back. There are automatic lubrication systems or additives you put in your fuel. Personally I have used the bottle with a hose going to a vacuum fitting in the intake manifold. Put a little brass tap in there to control the flow and Bob's your uncle. I also had a float setup in the bottle that activated a warning light when the lube got low, but that's optional.
sorry to highjack your thread mate but can anyone tell me how you can tell if your car has had the conversion to run on unleaded fuel do you need to pull the head off or is there an easyer way the reason i ask is because i may be getting another vh 202 and want to know what fuel i can use in it
Ask the owner and take his word for it? Some mechanics put a sticker in the fuel lid to say unleaded fuel compatible or there may be a sticker under the bonnet somewhere.
