Default How To Upp My Performance (Blue 202)

i wont be the first to say the holden 202, compared to todays standards is most definately lacking power ... i am not as of yet lookin at replacing the engine in my holden vc so. to you mechanics, what are some cheap ways to gain a few extra kw.. & whats the more expensive ways? note i already installed a custom 2.5"exhaust system ....

Extractors, cam, removal of standard fan and standard air box are good starters. Depending on how far you want to go, you could look at having some head work done etc.

Take the 2 1/2" off and go 2 1/4". As frenchyvh said, extractors, cam, port and polish head, bigger valves, roller rockers, solid lifters, flat top pistons, chrome molly push rods. The list goes on. For the 5g it will cost to make a bullet proof straight 6, spend it on a VP. Bugger all to spend, mods are easy and it will go harder than everything up to the VZ.

But cheap and easy, just go extractors and a webber carby from an XE or XF.

Get Extractors and EFI screw the ford crap off, get a good aftermarket computer and you'll do fine !

5 Speed, maybe a better driveline, lsd diff so u can boot her! See what u can do wit h the crank.. see if u can get any shaved off.. maybe improve in high or low end torque. Get twin VT"s if u can for thermos. Make sur ur engine internals are balanced, eg. dont have good pistons with shiat rods or lifters.

    That's all ill say

The VT twins are two radiator fans... I think they are electronically driven and don't use belts?

VC Sleeper - It will improve torque = quicker rpm! better fuel eco, runs cooler then a standard exhaust. I installed VK's on mine myself, keep the other half the 2.5 exhuast, i would of chossen a 2.25 myself seeing a 2 sucks and " 2.5 might be to big for a 202...everyone has there own opinion on this" but 2.25 in the middle!

The electric thermo will replace ur mehchanical fan, takes allot of pressure of your motor in its turns.

for the money you'd spend pulling the motor down to hot up you could buy a 308 out of the trading post, even a stock one would **** on a blue 202

Yeah you'd need the webber adapter plate if ur chucking it on a standard intake. Also the EFI extractors won't fit on a carby motor. They bolt up fine, it's just the intake manifold doesn't fit on with the extractors.
