Just got my VK wags. When it's first started up, everything's ok for about 10-15 mins then the oil pressure drops. It drops slowly till it goes off the gauge. It runs ok to start with, but as the oil pressure drops the lifters start ticking away and eventually misfires a bit. Then it's ok after it's sat for a while.
I drove it from Crystal Brook to here which is about 20-30 mins of highway driving, which for all of it there was no oil pressure.
The oil is old, and it's waaaay over the 'full' mark on the dipstick.
I'm chucking my motor and trans in it soon, but just wondering wat could be causing this problem.
The temperature is great to, so it aint overheating.
Any ideas? BTW, on the clock it's over 300,000k's, but it has an exchange motor in it, which I wouldn't have a clue how old it is.

Change the oil and filter. Either the filter is really blocked up & clagged up, therefore reducing oil pressure. Or the oil is way past its use and has diluted to water. Do these things first and see what happens. If problem persists, then it could be oil pump mechanism or bottom end of engine is stuffed.
Thx mate, did the oil change just b4 and it is heaps better. Altho once I started dropped the foot a little further the pressure started to drop a bit again....but it's waaay better.
Thx heaps.
PS: Do u know how much oil they're suppose to hold. I chucked 3 litres in...still got another 3 but can't see the oil on the dipstick coz it's so clean haha.

who cares dude lol your replacing the motor anyway **** oil doesnt need it :P
i would say it would hold at least 4 ltrs
They normally take 4 1/2 litres with a filter change. It might be worth taking the pump off and checking to see if the relief valve is stuck open or leaking a bit, but it most likely is the big end bearings worn out
