Default 308 or v6 ecotec conversion???????

im doing a transplant on my vk and cant decide if i want to use an ecotec v6 or a 308. i can get a ecotec out of a vt with low km's and a 5 speed box for a pretty low price but the power of a 308 is appealing but the fuel is a negative. in terms of the conversion i know the 308 will be easier but the advantages of a newrer engine is appealing....
    any help would be awsome

Yeah, but an injected 5litre would probably work out cheaper to run than a 308. But if money is the driving factor, but a v6 in it. Or you could slip a
    RB20DET or RB30ET in it...........

I couldnt have said it better myself It will go like a scalded cat. Fuel isnt an issue if you drive it with a brain, I have gotten 10L/100km out of my EFI 5L but also gotten 20L/100km out of it as well

But if you can get a V6 at a really good price it will still go well. You could always fit 1:9 roller rockers and do a few other mods to get some better performance.

    cheers

Yeah I drive my SS everyday, driven relatively sensibly, and I doesnt cost me much at all. Alot of people have the misconception that because its a v8, it will use heaps of fuel. It WILL, if you drive it like its full of stolen porn from Sexpo, but if you are easy on it, they are great. Dont look past one of the turbo sixes from Nissan though, as I said earlier.

I vcan get a vt ecotec with low km's and a t5 tranny for 1400. ive already looking at getting an rb25 but the costs are too high and the rb20 wont be enoguh power and id have to rev the shi t out of it. im leaning more towards the ecotec but just wondering if the tranny is not from a vt will it still be alright to ise??? also will a vt ecotec bolt onto a vs k frame????

standard carbie 308 only ever produced 125kw standard, ecotec gots 147kw with much better fuel consumption. get a VN wreck for the correct k frame. if oyu can get an ecotec ecu for a manual it's easy, otherwise use a VN ecu and wiring, it does work, then see Dr. Bob for a tune for the VNecu to suit the ecotec. see hozy's thread in the modifying V6 section for everything you need to know when converting a VN to ecotec. i'm considering a ecotec for my VN but my long term goal is to do an ecotec into a VK with T5 with raptor charger for lots of go.......
