    Default 202 Block identification

Apart from the colour, how could you tell the difference between a blue and black 202 block?

    Cheers,
    Matt

There isn't one. The reason for the colour change was to differentiate between models for the emissions control. The heads changed but the blocks were the same.

Ok thanks for that. So what changed with the heads due to emission controls?

I think all HC 202s had "VL" engine prefix.
    I agree what Not_An_Abba_fan said.

Didn't red motors have 202 cast into the block on the front passenger side and blue motors have 3.3 cast into them

What colour is the 3.3 fuel injected motor fellas? The one with the "big as" inlet manifold with ECM cast into it. The fuel injected 3.3 in the VK and the VL before they came out with the RB30 or 3.0 ltr. Nissan motor come on think!
No it's not NOS it's LPG

Your missing the point dose pipe. What colour did the Fuel injected 3.3 (202) get painted. Because it wasn't black. If you've got a black one it's either been painted by an engine rebuilder or its just the head and manifold thats been used from the original to make one up from a carby engine block.

Yeah EFI 202's aren't completely red. Just the rocker cover and intake manifold like SL/ENUT said. The head and block are always black standard.
