hey everyone..
considering doing a manual conversion on my VK soon..
i can get a rebuilt aussie 4-speed, bellhousing, new clutch and thrust bearing and a flywheel together..
i know that ill need a clutch cable, pedal box and spigot bush, but unsure on whether i can use my VK's tailshaft with the aussie 4speed?
yeah ive done a search but the only info i've found on using the auto tail shaft with a manual box is for the 5-speeds... still not sure if the auto one will bolt up to the 4-speed.
also is there any other parts i will need that i left out thanks
thanks in advance![]()
the 4-speed i can get is an M20. as far as im aware the VK's came with the MC6? is there any difference in strength between the two? would the M20 be fine behind my 202 with holley, exhaust etc (maybe later EFI)
Sure the M20 would be fine behind the 202. Its is a lot stronger than the MC6 tranny.
As for the tailshaft, i think it won't fit, i'm sure the MC6 has a longer rear extension housing, which would make the tailshaft shorter.

my car is auto at the moment.. so it wouldnt have a manual tailshaft. or are they the same from trimatic to MC6? thanks for the help![]()
The trimatic and M20 tailshafts are the same. AFAIK The MC6, M75 and M76 tailshaft are different to the M20/M21 and trimatic ones.
