Hey ive just acquired a VC commodore sl/x with Brock enhancements. It has a VH 5 speed manual on a 202. shes fairly rough got her cheap ($150) but she runs and has a few enhancements (Brock steering wheel, VH 5speed manual with Brock gear knob, and suspension, discs all round, and a boot full of spare goodies) i've heard that the steering wheel is worth more than the actual car. any way i am wondering how i can improve it so i can beat my mate (owner of the worst car around a Ford EA5speed) so how can i improve the power of the old 202 without putting a grand canyon sized hole in my wallet???
Cheerz for your help
depends on how much exactly your willing to spend? for a mild 202 look at yella terra head ,mild cam ,and a general rebuild a 350cfm holley or triple webbers and extractors and 2 1/4in exhaust system should get you started alternatively you could source a 308 and drop that in or a efi 5 litre out of a vn
It's a lil hard to get your car to be more powerful and faster without spending much, ebay is always a good start, whats his EA run under the hood? EFi 4.0L? if so drop a 5L V8 that'll fix em.......over kill? yes but at least you can drag off even more powerful cars.![]()

If you wanna work on the motor you've got now, get extractors, exhaust, bigger cam and straight cuts. You gotta have straight cuts. They sound freaking awesome. Not to sure on power gains, if any. But they're worth it just for the sound.![]()

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
ea's had either a 3.9L carby ( S1 only), CPFI or MPFI. 4.0L's came out with the eb.
trust me both my bro and my dad have those POS's

We got rep back, yaaay!
told ya i could hear something lol yeah well there is not alot of hope to out run the ford on a budget as much as i hate to admit it but that is like putting a xd falcon 5spd against a 5 spd vn v6 commodore the ea is newer so it has later technology just get a 5 litre it will cost about the same as working the 202 and you'll have alot more power
Just get nitrous but dont tell him. "its stock br0"
hey its me ive jus found a small problem its got little breaks as there is somthing seriously wrong with it. i apply the breaks right to the floor (the clutch is stiffer lol) and hear a whoosh sound, but in the boot full of goodies i found a pbr break master and am wondering if its worth replacing the old 1
But like the saying goes "who needs brakes they only slow you down" well i'd like to be able to stop when a tree jumps out in front of me lol.

Mr.rabbit
check that the discs arnt locked up, bleed the system, check the lines and calipers to see they havent been over-extended and id upgrade the master cylinder just because its easy to do and if its worse just change it back
Cheers
yea found the prob dodgey bleeders just had to re bleed and tighten them up.
What are peoples veiws on yellaterra heads to boost the power?? and wher could i find 1??
straight 6 heads go to this thread it will give you an idea on price they do up performance best to ask the experts in the yella terra section of the forum
cheerz mate just did check it out expensive but worth it.
damn car lots of work needs doing to it lol. im curious about the clutch cable it seems to have a hell of a lot of free play and am wondering how to tighten it (when i depress the pedal it engages only an inch from the firewall) i assume there are two places to tighten it (pedal and on the box)
Nope only in one spot, on the gearbox. Its a pig of a thing to adjust!.

however your clutch cable may be stretched (like mine is) thus you'll need a new one.

And if you do need a new one, make sure you tell them the right one, a M75/M76 5 speed manual one.
