    Default Ignition Barrel

    Hey Guys,
    I was just wondering my vk i just got needs a new Ignition Barrel and i was just wondering how do i remove the old one its my first car i have a "fix it" book for it but its no help i have removed the steering wheel etc just need to know how to get it out and the car is not on the road because thats all it needs to get it roadworthy so any help please would be great!

    Not 100% sure coz I haven't done it myself, but apparently there's a small hole somewhere around it where u insert sumfin in the hole and the barrel just slides out. Not sure tho...

    thats true a paper clip works the best. from memory i cant remember quite wher it is but ill have a look as mines stuffd as well (might put a later V series barrel and locks possibly VT onwards)

    i just removed mine out of my vl to put into my vk and there are 3 8mm bolts holding it in i think there is 2 on the underside and 1 on top to get to them my dash was already removed but i think u will need to undo the cover surrounding it

    There's info on OldHolden somewhere about it that I found once when trying to do this job myself.

    You have to use a screwdriver and hammer, and actually MAKE the hole to release it yourself. It's actually designed to be punched out that way. You need to have the wheel and indicator switch assembly out to do it.

    That said however, I still couldn't get the bastard thing out... was the only second hand genuine lock barrel, with original keys, that none of my other keys worked in! Was shattered that I couldn't get it out to put in mine
