what is a complete vacuum test

Can anyone tell me the ins and outs of a vacuum test for a 308 vk auto?I have serious idling issues.

Easy vacuum test is to get a can of aerostart and spray each vacuum line connection and when the idle picks up you have a leak there.

A complete vacuum test consists of not only checking for leaks in hoses but also vacuum opperated components & ported vacuum switches.

A regualted vacuum pump with guage is required, ie you connect it to the vacuum advance on the dizzy and pump it to spec and make sure it hold vacuum. Also checking it has moved to the required distance.

Ported vacuum switches are maily air or coolant temperature switched so they will be removed from the engine and tested in hot water or air (depending on switch) to check their opperation.

All hoses are inspected for cracks etc. Manifold vacuum sources should be tested for correct vacuum.
