    Question Axel assembly replacement

I destroyed the spider gears in the diff.... too many of these... so now i have to replace it. Which will fit into my car? Its a vc 202 4spd manual.
I preferably want a stronger diff than the one that was in there, but i dont have heaps of money either (uni student!)
I'm thinking of getting one from the self serve wreckers.

P.S anybody have any idea what spline the current axles in the car are?
    Cheers.

    25 spline mate.
I think you should stop doing burnouts, cause you are going to keep on blowing them.

At a local commy wrecker here, he charges $150 for a VL diff, and $50 for a VK borgy tailshaft. To put the VL diff in (Borg Warner) u just bolt it up the same as the Salisbury was. And as it bolts up to the tailshaft using a flange and 4 bolts, u need another tailshaft. You'll need to get a tailshaft out of a VK which had a Borg Warner diff in it. I think all EFI VK 202's had them, and some later carby ones as well. You pull both tailshafts apart, and bolt the front of urs to the rear of the other one u bought...then it should all bolt up fine.

If u can track down a VK with a Borg Warner diff, well just get the diff and tailshaft out of that, but if u can only find a VL diff then thats ok, but u do need the VK Borgy Warner tailshaft.

I bought a VL diff and the VK EFI tailshaft to put in my VH....and as I now have a VK wags I was gonna sell the diff and tailshaft for someone looking to put a Borgy under their old Commy, but PEAKN6 (VK EFI 202) is starten to do 2 wheeler skids so I'm keeping the diff as a backup.

Definitely go for either an 85 VK borgwarner diff or VL diff, both are 25 spline and are strong diffs. These diffs are 25 spline same as your current one. EFI VKs had both Salisbury (84 model) & borgwarner (85 model) diffs.

    cheers

Thx for the info mate. I always thought all EFI models only had the borg warner diffs. I thought that the 84's were all carby and had a salisbury, and the 85's had a mix of EFI and borg warner diffs.

Anyone help with the specs. on the Salisbury with the 10 bolt pan. My VK is going to get rear discs soon and I don't want a big surprize when I get all the bits and find I have the wrong ones. I'm hoping to find a Calais at the wreckers but knowing my success lately that probably won't happen.

    Good luck Kizza

Thanks everyone for your help -
I went down to Harvey self serve wreckers today and picked up a vl borgy diff and the vk efi tailshaft.
I shall be putting it in tomorrow.
Last thing - should i put in a minispool into the new diff? or leave it as it is? becuase i have destroyed two salisbury diffs, each time destroying the spider gears and pin...
I have the mini spool so not too sure what to do.

    Cheers

putting in a minispool will destroy more than just your diff youre talking tyres (just from driving normally) gearboxes axles sure theyre fun but openwheelers do just as good burnouts

If u have one I rekon u may as well put it in and see if u like it. Ya might like it, or ya might hate it, I say give it a go and if ya don't like it just pull it out and atleast ya know what they're like etc etc.

We normally have to change the rears every week or 2 so the wear from having a spool will prolly be nothing if ur the same. We always chuck old tyres on the back coz we know they ain't gonna last long haha.
