I have a manual 3spd on the tree in the 202. I have heard that you can change the linkages quite easy so that it becomes on the floor?? If so how do it do it and would it be better to get a 4 or 5speed manual would be the way to go. also what price would looking at for the connversion??
Mr. Rabbit
A 4 speed M2x series box would be cheaper as you would keep your existing bellhousing & tailshaft. You would just need the 4 speed box & linkages, cut a hole in your transmission tunnel unless theres a cover plate already there and bolt it all up.
Changing to a 5 speed would require a bit more work including tailshaft, bellhousing, plus you could have shifter issues if you have a bench seat in the ute if the shifter sits further back.
The 3 speed & 4 speedo both have the same final drive of 1:1 so you would improve top speed unless you go to a 5 speed.
cheers

Ive also heard that an imparlla shift kit would also suit if i wanted to keep the original box?? does any one know where i could find one?? the shift pattern remains simmilar to the tree but instead of pulling u just push down for first and reverse but it then pops up for second and third.
Speco used to make a floor shift to fit the three speed box which was in a H pattern or you can use a 4 speed shifter on the 3 speed box but you have to make your own bracket to mount it on so it bolts up to the gearbox mount. Just found a link to speco and looks like they still make floor shifts for three speed boxes http://www.speco.com.au/accshifts.html#threespeed
cheerz mate just had a look, mounting it looks "Interesting" making my own brackets and ect... cheerz for the information
