easy, I did mine the other week. I say easy, cus the VL ones are painful!!!!!

13mm Socket & rachet is your friend, they are held in with locktite also, so you might need some muscles.

I found that a screwdriver also comes in handy as seat rails tend to have some **** in them from sitting around, & the seat will need to go all the way forwards for rear 2 bolts, & all the way back for front 2 bolts.

I had to unjam both seat rails on both seats to get them to go all the way in either direction (damn me being a shortass!)

Sometimes they use a hex head bolt.

Instead of putting second hand VK seats in, why not put VN ones in? We got given a pair of VN seats about 3 weeks ago and Brad put them in the other day. Just had to switch the rails over, and also the driver side I had to do a bit of welding and customising....other then that it was ok. And they're heaps better. I didn't think they would be much different to start with but everytime I get in it feels wicked!

I found that was the case with the VL's but not VK's?. in both the VK Calais I pulled the seats out of last week, didnt have them, makes things alot easier.... the other heads have a tendancy to round off due to the force needed to crack the locktite.

Instead of regular VK Seats.... go the Calais ones..... they still beat VN seats

    hi guys,

im also struggling to remove my front seats on my VK. I have an 85 Vacationer sedan and i'm stuck at point 1 - removing the allan head bolts (?) that secures the seat into the floor, as per the attached photo.

How would i go about getting it off - it seems in previous posts that you could use a "3/8 drive ratchet or 1/4 braker bar 13mm 6 sided socket to crack them lose then a 13mm rachet spanner should do it dont crack them with a rachet spanner there good but they will brake."

As the front ones are stuck in with locktite, ive tried just manually moving them with allan keys and they are just in too tight. I cant get my socket wrench to fit in there with the allan key head attachment as the seat gets in the way...

Also, is there any product that can melt locktite?

If someone has done this before, could you please find a pic of the tools I would need?

Oh and before I even go this far, do you guys think I should proceed with it anyway - im taking my current seats out to put in VK Berlina seats, however the berlina seats dont have any rails, so the rails need to be transferred from both of my seats to the berlina seats too?

    cheers

    Kurt

hmmm must be late VK's & VL's that have allen key heads (Hex) In my VL's I used a allen key, & a piece of pipe as a breaker bar. I ended up having to angle grind one bolt off - Avoid this at all costs. Because basically your seat strength is then ruined.

I had heard once before of stuff that could help dissolve locktite, but Ive never seen it ya just have to have the muscles

I figured it out as i put some clean seats in from another vk. Just four bolts all up, front and rear, they sit in the rails.

guys spray Selley's RP7 on the underside of the bolts to grease them up, then use an allen key and a metal pipe for leverage to get the bolts off. The Loctite shouldn't be a problem now. That and rp7 smells nice . Good Luck everyone!
