hey hows it going?
ok well heres the deal..
my old baby died. and i took it to a mechanic.. got EVERYTHING DONE. cost a fair bit,
the car runs beautifuly now, and starts on fuel without any proglames ( its on lpg ) but it will not now start on lpg...
any suggestions? all i can hear is it turning over. was low on gas, so filled the tank, but still nothing..
maybee the realay to the gas shut off soliniod or the solinoid itself. Or I have to ask did you check whether the gas is turned on at the tank? The mechanic may have turned the valve off
I don't like the idea of people playing with LPG unless they are damn sure they know what they are doing, but anyway...
I assume your car is dual fuel.
Get a mate to help you.
Remove the large gas hose which is held by a clamp connected on top of the mixer. The mixer is where the air cleaner is mounted on top of the carby. Switch to gas and crank the motor and you should get a good flow of gas coming out of the hose. If you get some gas then good.
Make sure that there is plenty of coolant/water in the radiator (full) and that the overflow tank is half full. The converter will freeze if there is no water flowing through it which will prevent gas vapour entering the mixer.
Also check that the lpg safety switch is functioning. It looks like a small black box with about 5 wires coming out of it. They usually have a LED on it as an indication. It should display when cranking or when the motor is running.
Check the gas tank valve is fully open.
Make sure the mixer is sitting firm on the carby.
Check these things.
check all the above and also the 10amp fuse that is part of the LPG electrical circuit, usually jammed under the fusepanel in VK, not sure where it is on a VH, location probably also varies with who installed the gas system.
also crank the motor and get a mate to check that both the tank solenoid and the solenoid just prior to the converter (on the high pressure side) are opened when the motor cranks... use a test light...
good luck
The fuse might be located under the dash where you would see the switch. Mine is there and it's an inline fuse holder.
cheers for the input guys, its working fine now.
me and a mate played around with it, dissconected and reconected, and it worked.
guess it was just connected poorly in bits and pieces.
missed those cheep fumes.
thanks
