heya
the past month or so ive been driving aorund, and ive noticed that my front end is making a ratteling/grinding noise
at first i thought it was just my exaughst ratteling, but ive got a mate to fly past me and its coming from the front end.
now the wierd thing is, it only happens when you floor it, ( well its more obvious and way louder anyway)
and it ONLY happens in drive, or at least a dam load more.
ive shoved it in neautral and revved it, with no noise, but as soon as drive is in place, it will rattle.
any ideas of the problame?
i thought maybe it could be the bearings? but im not too mechanicaly minded.
cheers guys.
oh and if it helps, ive noticed it happens alot more on petrol, then it does on lpg. dont get me wrong, it still happens, but alot quieter.
cheers
Check your timing. Does it sound like marbles in a tin can rattling around real fast? If that is ok, make sure the vacuum advance is working.
The harmonic balancer insulating rubber perishes too making it rattle.
yeah it does, but a lttle more high pitched...
if it is this, would it be a major problame? ( not mechanicaly minded so ill have to give it time before i get it fixed. )
and any reasoning for why it wont happen in neautral, but only drive?
trying to learn![]()
check to see if the exhaust is fouling on any of the body or suspension in the front end, particularly if its a V8. Exhaust fouling can sometimes sound like the trans is about to go and make the car feel funny to drive in some cases.
