Ive been offered a 308 brock engine with the car im thinking about buying.
The heads are "b" cast but is there anything else specific with engine number that will say its a brock motor
I dont think so but if its in the original car there is a way from the options on the build plates

Basically to work out its a genuine block see if you can get the VIN from the car it came out of, call HDT and ask them if this engine came out of the car with X VIN. You will need to know as much as you can about what model commodore it was colour etc.
Without completely disassembling the engine its card to tell whats in it, if you knock the inlet manifold off and there should be guide plates on the push rods.
cheers

The original car would be history as my mate bought it from someone else.
The motor is stripped so i'll checkout the guide plates.
Im restoring a '71 lc gtr so the eng prefix will tie in the year it came from and also the cast date will pin it to a month & year so i was hoping these blocks have a similar features.
Couldn't start up a profile with brock commodores, it blocked my email address "hotbeamer@yahoo.com.au", maybe its the "hot"!! I'll try again later
It doesnt matter if the car has been melted down to make Kias, if oyu have the VIN of the car you can call HDT and they will be able to tell you if it was a brock engine or not. It could be a 308/304 with B cast heads.
cheers

you need a legitimate non-web based email to join that site, keeps the ********s out and your account will be activated once you've been verified as a legit member and not a spammer trying to offload junk.
Thanks for the heads up.
