    Default VC Commodore Wagon Stolen

    Please post the following information
    Car: Holden
    Make:Commodore
    Model:1981 VC Station Wagon
    Rego:BVA 267
    Location: Lalor
    Time: Last seen 10pm 4/5/2007
    Colour:Yellow
    Contact number:9465 5140
Where last seen:in the drive way friday night

also try and attach some photos.

I dont have any photos of such, but it was faded yellow, especially on the passenger side, it had bits of purple to patch up rust marks (a job i never finished), the bonnet was all scratchy, with pale blue comming through (i guess it was undercoat, blame the EX for that!)

I know its not in good shape, and not worth it, but hey its a car, i owned it, i was stolen out from the driveway, dad use to drive it regulary, now he cant. If anyone sees it please let me know or the police, its got a lot of sentimental value, i learned to drive in the car.

    thanks

On the way to the wreckers, stop by Dick Smith and get a single pole switch and use it as a hidden kill switch.

Damn little ****s that do this. The bastards steal everything whether or not it's of much or any value at all...Meaning nic nacks in the car.

How would you wire something like that up? My mate has a vk with a little switch near the front of it with the wires just leading to no where in the engine bay.

You just wire it in series with the starter solenoid wire or you could wire the switch from ground to the positive side of the coil. All it would do is non stop cranking. You need proper wire and high enough amperage switch. A 20 amp switch would suit the solenoid wire. This method isn't exactly fool proof (what is?) but if done properly, a young retard would take off without going any further.

I wonder how they broke into the car? I've got Solex locks on my VL, if you would like a set they're $88 plus postage. Not sure if anyone else with solex locks on had their car stolen, as they only way to break into the car is to smash the car window open.

And if they intend on stealing it thats what they'll do. Its a pity that those responsible will probably never be caught

There has been lots of talk here before on Solex locks and my opinion I wouldn't touch them when a heap of people say that all you need is a large screwdriver to pop them off. So they can be broken through.

I watched the RACV open an early Commodore one day the lady had locked her keys in, he opened it in I would say 2 to 3 seconds, slid a flat piece of metal down the glass into the door, it had a small notch cut in the tool he used and simply pulled it up, bingo door was open. I would say he hooked onto the bottom of the rod the door button is on. I always put the steering lock on our VC and it has an alarm with the flashing red light quite visible.

My old VH could be opened with anything. Any key, screwdriver, butter knife etc.

Didn't need a key to start it either. It's very common for them to be so easy to use.

That method is quite commonly used by the RACV/NRMA to unlock the door. Usually the rear door. Thing is most people don't know how to use a coat hanger to do it properly which is a good thing.

I lived in Tassie at the time, so I wasn't too worried about it. I used to leave my cars, VH and both VN's, outside overnight unlocked.

Hell, I even used to go down to the other end of the state for the weekend and leave my house unlocked.
