I read somewhere that using Nolathane strut mounts will make the front of the car sit higher, due the the mounts being thicker. Is this true?
If so, would lowered king springs make much of a difference?
I got Nolathane strut mounts and I only bought king spring lows to go in the front coz I don't want it to low.....would I have been better going super lows?
I dunno how high it sits coz the whole strut assembly is sitting in front of my bed and not under the car
I got my 17's 2day and we chucked them on PEAKN6 (VK)...and the front sits bloody high with stock suspension....so I'm really thinkin I've made the wrong choice in springs haha....do u think I could get $80 for the front set (so I can go buy some super lows lol), even tho they're second hand, but haven't been in a car yet? (they're only a week or 2 old)![]()

I dont see how it would make it higher as it doesnt change the height below the strut just above it. If you get what i mean
yeah I sort of get wat ya mean lol.....I might go out and measure up some standard ones and come in and measure my good ones and see wat the difference is.
Thx for ur help.![]()

they do make it sit higher when you compare them to your original worn out rubber ones. when i had mine fitted it sat higher then the old worn ones etc

What series of mounts you talking about? The standard adjustables or the new evolution mounts from nolathane? I just ordered the evolution series. I would imagine that they wouldnt make alot of a difference.
the standard nolathane adjustables do make it sit a tad higher, mine did and my original mounts werent too bad.
when a stock strut mount has had its last day and is sagging like crap, new nolathane strut tops will raise it quite a bit, new rubber ones would too.
dan355, i saw the evolution ones the other day on the website, i want to get a set later in the year, see how they go, have you got stock mounts in your car now? if you do, you will have to let us know if it raises it much if any.
The rubber part of the strut mount is just the insulator for the shock absorber (strut cartridge) just like a rear shock has rubber bushes on its mounts. The spring seats on the metal part. The bearing lets it rotate. Unless the distance between the spring mount and the plate with the 3 bolts in it is greater than the original, it wont sit any higher. If you take your strut out, replace the bearing plates and put them back in and do a measurement of the ride height both before and after, then the car will sit a bit higher because the rubber bushes on the control arm and Z bar have to settle again. Drive it around a bit then measure it and you will find that it comes down pretty close to the original height. Some bearing plates are thicker so they will make the car sit up a bit but only about 5 or 10 mm.
Thx for the help lads. Yeah I just got the normal adjustables. The evolution ones have the black plate thing on the top hey? Had a qwik suss on their site and theirs don't look like mine, so yeah I'd say I have the normal Nolathane adjustables.
I just went out and measured up from the top spring mount to the strut mount, and that itself is about 8-10mm in difference, altho the old strut assembly I measured up was off a diff car so it could of been more cactus then the ones I have in my car at the moment.
Well I guess the only real way to see is to wait and find out.
Hopefully I might be able to chuck one of those Nolathane enhancement kit things on layby soon. Gonna cost bout $300 for a complete one I rekon, so might get that so I can put all new rubbers through everything. Depends how much work I get and how much is on the bill I'm getting for my motor haha.
Thx heaps for the help.![]()

priced a full front and rear enhancement kit for a mate at work today, was about $518 retail. i quoted him a different price for trade, but then i also added up the individual bushes in the kit, and it came to about $60 cheaper.
so just check, whoever you buy it thru, add up what its going to cost for nidividual bits first, over the kit.
some vehicles, the kits cheaper, some the seperate parts is.

My bro works at Repco and his staff price is about $300 for the complete kit I rekon, but yeah I'll definitely suss them out seperately next time my bro is working, coz the old guys that work there are 2 bloody lazy and hate lookin heaps of stuff up on the computer...oneday when I asked one of the older guys about larger valves, he said "You won't be able to afford them so I'm not gonna bother looking them up"....The customer complaint forms on the counter would all be missing by now if I decided to complain about everytime they were rude to me.
Hey Smitty my struts looks nearly identical to urs
Here's a pic I took a few hours ago which shows how high the front sits standard with my 17's. The back has monroe shortened shockies with lowered king springs, and thats about the height I want the front...just so the gaurd sits just a fraction above the wheel.

The car looks pretty level. It's an illusion that it sits up higher at the front because the arch is higher to allow the wheels to turn with suspension travel. Lowering the front any more and it will look as though it is sagged at the front.
Well I'm hoping the lowered springs in the front will drop it a little bit.
If I have time 2morrow I might just swap the struts over and see how the car sits with the new ones in....i dont wanna leave them in at this stage tho coz i still need to clean and paint underneath.
