a mate of mine is wondering if the vk power steering system and rack can be put on a vc commodore pretty easily or not? and also if the front struts, shocks and springs will fit up too, thanks in advance
front struts, shocks and springs should fit up no probs, although im not sure about the vk power steering system i cant imagin it would be 2 hard.
yea mate she all fits up but when theres problems, say noises and leaks, im not ere lol, ive had bad experiences with power steering and my car has a p/steer rack and pump but no belt. who says ya need a gym to work out. i drove me bro's hq with manual steer and that feels like p/steer compared to p/steer with no belt.
goodluck.......
The VC power steering pumps and reservoirs are completly different as far as i know. Racks should be the same.
Im the same as Peakn6 i have nothing but trouble trying to put power steering in, though i now have a belt on mine (jealous? :P) but the pump is missing a few bearing sor something lol, ill fix it one day, but at the moment it just attracks looks same with the big whole in the exhaust lol.
Cheers Tom
haha yeah we ended up killing the pump on peakn6 (was leaking fluid where the pully is so i guess the bearings stuffed up) so I gave Brad the one off my wagon coz im goin manual steering. Put it on, filled it up with fluid, ran it for a while but the whining noises never went away like it did last time. Figured it was coz we didn't bleed the system.....so the easy solution....chop the belt and go...might bleed it oneday and try again, but for now we just have heavy as f**k steering. When I drive my bosses ute which is manual steering it feels great!
