What is the difference between the red & blue 253's?
And also the difference between the red and blue 308's?
Thanks,
Matt
Red 253s: They use a 2 barrel Stromberg carbi, basic emissions. Mechanical points dizzy
Blue 253s: Use a 4 barrel Rochester, better emissions. Also a bit more power. HEI, High Energy Ignition dizzy, other words electric.
Now the bigger brothers.
Red 308s: Like the red 253, basic emissions. Not much power with a single exhuast. Also has mechanical points dizzy
Blue 308s: More friendly with the emissions, HEI, bit more HP at the flywheel. Not much difference between the red 308s.

Thanks for that. A couple of other things....
Was there anything internally difference with the red vs blue V8's? Like, will red 308 heads bolt onto a blue 308 block, etc? Was there larger or more ports, like the red vs blue 202's?
Thanks,
Matt
Blue heads will fit onto a red 253/308. But i don't thinking red heads fit onto a blue 253/308.
The ports are the same in both heads, unless its a B cast or "X" heads.

wtf are x heads? x rods yeah
X heads are the same as a B cast, just doesn't have the B cast on them. They were made just before the B cast heads.
