I lent the VC to the son for a few days it is our family back up car, I mainly use it for shops etc. He made the comment that the power steering has more assistance on a right lock and less assistance on the left lock, I hadn't noticed it before but driving it today it is definetly lighter to turn to the right and a bit heavier turning onto a left lock, steers straight etc had a recond rack put in a few years back, not sure how good the recond was though.
Any thoughts or just maybe a fault in the rack it self.
Was wondering if it may be an alignment issue maybe caster?
A few things can cause it to be heavier one way. Tyre pressures, bent stub axle, alignment out, valving in the rack, or uneven toe out on turns (the threads on the tie rods are uneven). First thing would be to get a wheel alignment done but make sure they check everything, SAI, IA and KPI.
