oil sender unit

hi all, just went out and splurged on a new oil sender unit to get the in dash pressure gauge to work, but it don't, all i got now is a oil light which dims under revs, i thought that by replacing the sender was all i had to do to enable it, has anyone else done this and if so how did they rectify it???

you need to ensure you got the correct type... the small bakelite one operates the warning light only... I'm pretty sure the one you need to operate the factory oil pressure gauge is a 40mm diameter can type thing...

G'day all,
if the light dulls as ya rev the engine i would say you have it in the oil light port,the gauge sender unit is as previously mentioned much bigger,although i cant remember them having 2 oil sender units.

is cool i worked it out, it's the correct sender unit but for some reason you have to run a new wire from the unit to the back of the gauge which disables the warning light
