I have noticed that our 202 VC when first started after sitting overnight or for a few days blows a big cloud of blue smoke on initial start up, clears after a few seconds, and no smoke once running, we have a bit of a slope on our driveway and it seems worse depending whether it is reversed in or driven straight in the drive, if the car is facing uphill it blows heaps of smoke on start up suggesting the oil is getting into maybe the rear cylinder, facing the other way next to no smoke on start up. Was thinking about changing the valve stem rubbers but then thought maybe it is the valve guides that are worn, don't want to waste my time doing the rubbers and find it makes no difference, I was going to do the rubbers by using compressed air in the cylinders to hold the valves up rather than lifting the head. Appreciate your thoughts.
When I first did the valve stem seals when my Uncle taught me a few years ago....he filled the bores up with air and we did it that way too. As u only have to take off the rocker cover and rockers then push the spring down to change......I'd just do the valve stem seals first coz it's not a big job and I'd say that's more then likely the problem.

Valve stem seals, definitely. Even if the guides were all brand new, they would still leak oil overnight. When you compress the spring and pull the collets off, give the valve a wiggle, if they move a lot then the guides are worn, but they will have a tiny bit of play.
