Default EFI gear on a blue 202

As the EFI 202's run a slightly different cam and head to the carby donks....would there be any issues if we put EFI gear on a blue 202? We're gonna do it next week but thought I'd see if anyone knew.

A mate rekons he did it once and he couldn't get the car runnng at all. That same guy bought a VK from the auctons with a blue 202 in it with the EFI gear on it, and we drove it.

But yeah anyone know if there's any issues? We're hoping to break the 80rwkw mark at the wheels at a dyno day coming up. I know it's not a big number, but we just wanna get over 80rwkw.

The cam difference is only minor and it wont affect it. It will run. The only problem is big cams that the ecu cant handle smaller cams wouldn't cause any dramas

Cheers mate I hope ya right lol......the new motor for it is sitting in the shed on the engine stand.....hopefully shouldn't take no longer then a day or 2 getting it all cleaned up, then chuck the new gaskets through it, then paint it and do the switcheroo

Most people putting the EFI gear on a Blue 202 use the EFI cam aswell. Im not sure if you HAVE to but it does seem to be what everyone else is doing. You may aswell put the EFI cam in if you've got one, since it will suit the computer and the rest of the setup.

    Cheers Tom

Yeah we got one in the EFI motor, but I don't think we'd worry bout changing that one coz I rekon some of the lobes are worn down....it sounds a bit lumpy on idle, same as my old VH....when I took the motor out of my VH and removed the cam nearly all the lobes had bad wear marks lol.

As the motor we're putting 2gether was rebuild not long ago (altho still has heaps of oil leaks) I figured that cam would be best left in there (unless we had a new replacement). We'll see how it goes anyways.

nah,no real drama's. Timings set at 8 degrees on 95 octane premium. when i got it goin i had to fiddle the afm a tad to even out the rough idle. I put that down to the gear coming off an engine that had double the kays mine has done and had been tuned to suit the more "run in" engine.

Ah ok so it wasn't running as bad as ours is then haha.

As soon as we get it running properly it's getting put on the dyno ASAP to get tuned up. I know there isn't much to tune, but the guy can see exactly wat the motor is doin and he can tune it to the best it can be.....then we'll get a power run while we're there.

Hey have u got any spare tachometric relays and computers? I remember u saying u had computers, but not sure about the relay. If u do, whaddya want for them coz we're in desperate need.

Whaddya want for one of the ECU's?

Yeah the wreckers are pretty expensive, $65 roughly.....looked up the part number 2day and on staff Brad can get a new one for $60 (retail was about $180), but coz they don't have any at any shops it would be an extra $20 to get it shipped from the supplier.

We're buying some gear off a member on here which includes a tach relay, it's just it seems he aint online most of the time like me lol, so getting in contact with him takes time.....which we don't have. (even if I find another relay I'll still buy his coz I need one as well)
