Hya man i had a repco recond powersteering rack put in my vk on mon. And now its even more ***ed, i also took mine to a mechanic. The steering is really heavy, like two hards are needed to park the thing now, mine requires an equal amount of force to turn left and right. Fluid is leaking from the hose connections on the rack but i cant see it being enough to drop the pressure down that much, it will drip once a second.
Maybe these racks just need to be worn in!? i guess i just hit a few kerbs to loosen things upp

I used to fit racks and they should not be heavy at all, and they don't need wearing in. It may be that whatever caused your old rack to die, some crap has partially blocked the lines or the valves in the rack. It is best to flush the pump and lines before fitting a new rack to get any debris out.

The only problem i had with my old rack was it was leaking. So i thought replace it and now its not like having any powersteering, my old 1962 EJ holden with no powersteering is lighter to steer than my VK now...

Could be a dodgy rebuild. Take it back to where it was fitted and get them to check it.
