Hi,
My VB was recovered after being stolen a while ago. However the ignition barrel was damaged.
So now there is no need for a key to start the engine, just turning the ignition barrel starts the car. Which is why I have an engine immobilizer.
Anyway, given the brief description Which part is damaged? the barrel ? or the steering column? Not sure which bit locks what.
Is it possible to repair this? Who repairs/supplies spare parts?
I would probably need to re-key the car?
Cheers
You would need a new barrel and key I would say. You can get them at Repco I rekon, ask the staff about them, if they aren't sure tell them to look it up in the 'NICE' book, coz they do them I rekon.
Not 100% sure how to change them over, all I know is u have to pull the steering wheel off, pull out the indicator stalk and a few other bits and u eventually have access to the barrel. I don't think it comes out easy either. The VK's have a small pin hole around the column, and u put a pin in it and the barrel pops out.
My little bro (PEAKN6) has changed them over a few times, I'll get him to write up a small guide for ya....unless someone else knows how to do it.

If you cant find them at your local store, they are also available online.
Got NUFNSUS's from JustCommodores Spares here in SA.
Barrel must not be in 'steering lock' position.
take steering wheel off,
remove screws to remove indicator mechanism,
locate small slot that may or may not be covered by a thin layer of metal. Located right side of shaft. Should be a slight indent if its unpunctured.
If slot is visible place small flat head into slot & push down while pulling barrel out.
If not visible poke around until u make a dent where it is & puncture the slot, then proceed as above.
once barrel is removed, replace with new one, seating it firmly.
Replace other parts & Voila!
