hey looks like i'll be here from now on as i've just bought a VC SL as my new dailyi can get a rwc as is but would like to know how i would repair the bit of damage it has in the pic. also, i wanna put a new carbi on it to help with fuel and sound{maybe power}. any suggestions to what i should use? also, what would be the best size exhaust to put on? thx for the help
hey mate. dont know how'd u go bout getin that damaged fixed. looks like it mite cost a bit if u got some1 to do it tho.as 4 carbs it seems like people are using webers off older model falcons. they give good economy and some kinda power gain. i wouldnt recomend a holley if ur worried bout economy. as for exhaust size. i had a 2 1/4 on my old vc with a straight thru . had a pretty good note to it. good luck with it
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...
its not as bad as it looks. just after any suggestions as where would be the best place to knock it out. as i said, i can get a rwc for it as is{legit one not dodgy} but i wanna get it knocked out. as for the webers i've heard good things but cant track one down and only got a 320 or 350 holley on offer atm.
That bit of damage is not so easy to get out. I would be looking under the car to see if the boot floor hasn't kinked up.
What panel beaters usually do for that bit, beaver panel, is look for a wrecked VB-VH, drill out the spot welds and take that.

ahh looks like i'll be putting new bumper on and leaving it like that for bout a month. i'll just try and pop it out myself as much as possible then take it to a panelbeater and see what happens
go to any wreckers, they should have loads of those carbies
before you bother sending it for a roadworthy, I'd check underneath to ensure the chassis rails under the boot arent kinked, you should be right though from the looks of it. Based on similar rear end damage to mine I'm guessing you can expect to pay about 1500-2000 cash at a panel shop.
no damage to rails. 1500-2000 thats a joke lol
I'd go the weber its a 34 ADM i think, ill post up a link later with information on it. I would go more then a 2 1/4 inch exhaust on a stock 202. But i do have a brand new 2 1/2 redback exhaust if your interested, im in vic.
As for the damage that **** will buff out lol.
Cheers Tom
Cane_It is right....expect it to be around $1500-$2000 if u take it to a panel shop. My mate ran up the bum of a car oneday and it pushed the front back a bit (as it does lol), then a few weeks later someone went up the bum on him.....so his VN was a few inches shorter haha....looked funny as, pushed in front, pushed in back lol.
His rear looked like urs, and the panel shop classed it as an economic write-off (this was just for the rear)....so he got it privately done (bout $800 for the rear, this was done by a reputable backyarder).
You could put a jack or sumfin in ur boot, lay it down on the floor against the bump which goes up (got a memory blank, can't remember wat it's called), then try and press it out....or maybe put a chain on a post and hook it up to the back end and drive off a bit haha.....should take most of it out, then use a hammer for the rest.![]()

haha finally thats what i wanted. the half assed way to do it. thats pretty much what i was thinkin and also usin a rubbermallet and another contraption i thought of which i was gonna weld together. kinda like a pogo stick with a flat bit at the bottom and use my legs as the force to kick it out. if that makes any sence ha ha ha

Exhaust - not sure on postage i imagine it would be postable but the Z piece is probly to big, their not expensive to get made bout 40 bux if your getting the exhaust fitted at the same time i think, id check first if its a big concern, otherwise i could price a courier if your serious about it.
Cheers Tom

hmm interesting read. but i need to find one that'll bolt straight on with no mods{cant be bothered}. for the exhaust, i'll see what i can get one for up here then get back to u
when you go looking at the wreckers for the weber be carefull, as there was a re-call on them years ago but there still may some out there that weren't rectified, the fuel inlet used to be a press in item on them but they found that they tended to fall out, not a good thing to have happen especially with your exhaust underneath.
Mate, My old VB got run up the arse by a small truck. The quote for repairs that i saw was $750. I had a towbar on mine which took all the impact force. This buckled the floor badly. There wasn't as much external damage as yours but the bumper bar was pushed in a bit. The quote was just to replace the floor, pull the back end out a bit and repaint. This guy said that replacing the floor panel was a fairly simple job.
Judging by the look of yours it would be a fairly similar job. Just needs the floor removed, back straightened out and a new floor put in. So anyway i wouldn't expect it to be all that expensive. Perhaps you should just go in somewhere that does free quotes to get an idea of costs and what needs replacing or repairing.
Alternatively, you could just use a sledge hammer and a block of wood to straighten it out yourself.

as i said, i just got the roady done and he said there wasnt a problem with it. all i did was straighten the bumper. no towbar so thats probly why the boot floor didnt recieve much{if any} damage. i've gottin a bit of it out before it started to storm so im guessin that if i keep goin, i should be able to ge tmost of it out. but as u said, ill go rounde and get some free quotes'
not that i can see. i'm tryin to get a slide hammer actually. i can live with it for now.
if the boot shuts fine then, you shouldnt have too much dramas as long as you take it carefully and patiently pulling the panel out. white is pretty forgiving compared to darker colours which show even the slightest blemish in surface prep too. also check along the top of teh quarter panels running alongside the boot for any slightly raised area....
boot shuts fine. no raised bits along the top. damage didnt even touch the fuel tank. for some reason i didnt look properly but it actually has a 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 inch exhaust allready so one less thing. for what i paid for it, i could sell two things and make the money back lol
so far this is all the good bits bout the car.
1-straight body{sept the back lol}, minimal rust
2-4 brand new tyres with 4 15 inch mags
3-sports exhaust{dunno brand yet}
4-Sony CD player with 4 sony 6 inch speakers{almost new}
5-mite be lowered{dunno yet}
6-interior is almost mint{blue}
7-good, 2 tone black and white paint
8-new front brakes
9-air conditioning{no power steering tho lol}
all for the costly sum of $286. gotta love ebay ha ha ha
yep i've been cheerin all week lol
