    Default Power steering very leaky!!

I filled the power steering reservoir up last night as it was bone dry.(the car hasn't been started in about 2 years) Went to work on it this arvo and it is very low now. There was a stain on the ground, and fluid dripping out from the drivers side steering arm boot thingy. If i squeezed it it flowed out, and made a hissing sound from the passengers side.

Any suggestions? I'm guessing the seal has died. Can it be fixed?

Just spoke to two people about it. One said it will need a rebuild. The other suggested just running it dry, as it is for drag racing and i'm not turning any corners anyway!!

If it is for drag racing, just get a manual rack and remove all the extra weight of the power steer gear.

That's how PEAKN6 has been running for the last few months....power steering went up sh*t creek, so just removed all the power steering gear (pump, pipes, bottle etc etc) and just left the rack in it......bit harder steering but ya get use to it (then ya drive a car with manual steering and it feels like a luxury haha )

The ratio is different from a manual to a power rack, a power rack can still be steered, but as PEAKN6 has found, it's ***en heavy.

it's actually not to bad. would be a pain parking, but i don't have to do that. a bit heavy but once it is moving it frees up.

yeah when ya driving it's not noticable, only really when ya aint moving, or moving slow it's a little harder to turn....but it isn't much harder, enuf to notice but not enuf to be impossible to turn.
