Default VN diff in VK - it should fit - any reason why not?

    Hi guys,

Currently investigating options to fit a VN diff into the VK.

    Here's the current setup:

    VK BW78 3.23 disc rear-end
VS S-Pack rims with 215/60 rubber
    Whiteline adjustable panhard rod
    Lovells Superlow springs

Right now, the rims sit RIGHT at the top of the guard and there's way more than 20mm clearance either side (the VN diff being 40mm longer).

So - I see no reason the VN diff wouldn't fit without shortening as is... perhaps if I got bigger rims it may not be quite so easy...

So for what other reasons would this be a bad idea?

    Cheers,
    Chris.

The VN diff into a VK is a bad idea. I would use the the VN centre into the VK B/W diff housing and get some new 28 spline axles.

Doing it that way never actually crossed my mind! But were there any 28-spline axles to suit the VK housing?

The VL housing was 11mm wider than the VK BW housing... and I don't think any VK's had the 28 spline axles...

If you can find vl turbo axles you can machine enough to fit without getting them resplined or cut vn axles down and get them resplined.

Yeah I guess I'd only be taking ~5mm off each axle huh

Still, VLT axles won't be cheap to find... though probably cheaper than getting VN axles shortened though.

Don't put a VN diff in an early girl. We did it with my mates VH accidentally, and even with 175 wide tyres it still scrubbed terribly on both sides. Oh, and the noises it made when going over bumps would make your hair curl!
