i have just bought a vk berlina with EFI. i was wondering if they can have the lpg injection system put on it, apparently not all cars can use the gas injection system running off the vehicles original computer. iv read that there is no power lose with the injection system, is this true? has anyone had this conversion and what do they think of it? is it worth while or am i better off going for a duel fuel sestem? thanks
Im sure that is possible to convert the Vk to gas injection if you throw enough money at it. However, IMHO, gas injection is only a slight refinement over mixer systems(not as big a deal as going from carby to fuel injection on petrol) and to date there have been no figures provided by any gas injected system showing any signficant power and economy advantages over the $2000 cheaper lpg mixer system and its use atm is primarily to meet tougher emission standards. At present all the gas injection systems are duAl fuel, ......something that makes them unable to run on gas when cold apparently. You can go gas only with a mixer system, recommended if you dont have a desperate need to run petrol as well. If the lpg setup is done well, mixer or svi, there should only be a couple of kW difference in full power output, with only a dyno being able to tell the difference between lpg and petrol performance. Typically many dual fuel systems are not setup that well and perform poorly on one or the other or both! Have a look at this thread:Australian Ford Forums do you want to be an svi guinea pig?

My project at the moment is a turbocharged rotary runnning a straight lpg injection setup and an aftermarket computer designed for the lpg setup. The gear is from a company called profire and is only just being released on the marketplace, but they have been testing it for a number of years with very good results. I intend to be pushing around 400rwhp out of mine when it is completed, but I am still finishing bodywork at this stage. There is a large thread on Ausrotary that has a bit of information about this setup.
I wouldn't bother running duel fuel, it will always be a compromise.
Also, I don't think I'd be inclined to use the cars original computer unless it can be fairly extensively retuned. Gas runs best at quite different mixtures to petrol and with a fair bit more advance. I don't know anything about the computers used on the vk's though.
