commodore wont start

please help-my vk commodore wont start checked battery,ignition leads-even new distributor cap-no luck can you help.

try shorting the solenoid on the starter to the heavy starter post with a screwdriver... ie short the poles on the starter where the heavy red (or sometimes black wire) and the purple wire. I'm assuming stock wiring...
