Hoping someone out there can help me out,
I have inherited my late grandfathers 81 VC Commodore L ,a one owner car with original 83 000 kms.
The car was fitted with a vinyl roof but this was removed about 10 years ago due to shrinkage and sun damage.
Commodores are completely new to me as I am a Ford guy and never owned a Holden before, but for some reason can't sell the car and have decided to restore and return the car to it's former glory.
I am looking for a pair of mouldings found on the rear C pillars where the vinyl roof ends and the paintwork begins.
If anyone has seen a early model Commodore with a vinyl roof at a wreckers yard, or has any of these parts stashed, any leads would be appreciated.
Also,How do I find out the original colour that the roof would have been?
Is it the same as the paint code,or was there only a handfull of colours available?
I know that most people think that these roofs look crap, but I want the car back to stock,
Cheers.
Look on your build plate, its has the paint code, below that there is a bit called TOP. The vinyl code could be there.
Also, the vinyl roofs, depends on what colour your car is. I have seen a few VB/VCs that are yellow with a beige vinyl roof also seen a white VC with a maroon vinyl.
There should be chrome trims at the end of the vinyl roof on the C pillers. I don't know how hard these are to get. Try some wrecking yards Also see Rare Spares, just incase.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
