Hi commodore guru's,
Ive got a 3.3 carby VK and have recently had troubles with it knocking when pulling away in first and usually through second gear. it sounds like its coming from the left side of the gearbox tunnel and i have run out if ideas of what it could be. So far ive tried the engine mounts, Gearbox mount and the centre bearing with no luckIf anyone can help it would be much appreciated

Check the exhaust where it runs past the cross member. The torque of the motor will lift that side and cause the exhaust to hit the floor.
^^ As above.
How much was it to get ur centre bearing replaced, did you do it yourself if so was ti a hard job? Just wondering as mines shot and Im pretty sure their going to find it tomoro when it goes for a roadie.
Cheers Tom
The only real drama with the centre bearing is getting everything lined up again. The two halves of the the tail shaft have to line up exactly as they were. This means marking where the six allen bolts are and the CV joint where it goes onto the spline inside the boot. If it doesn't go back the same way, it will vibrate.
Thanks for the idea, but its been doing it for a while now and ive had a full exhaust system from extractors to tip since it started doing it so its not that. I heard it could be joint pins or something? :S
Check the K frame bolts then. They can come loose.
K frame is the frame that the motor is bolted to. Its called a k frame to its shape, shaped like a K.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
Thanks damien and "not_an_abba_fan" ill give it a look tomorrow. although i wont be going too far in it too soon as i cant drive for 3 months due to my "dissregard for the speed limit" as i like to put it lol. So the engines out and the heads currently off it. Going to use the 3 months to rebuild it and make it go some :P
