    Default thermos/fan 4 vh-sle 308

    Hey
Ive got a hot 308 How do I cool it???
Im sure this question has been asked b4 but i cant find a link. I have a vh sle with a worked 308. I have put a steel aftermarket fan through my last bonnet(snapped the brand new water pump) and now have to 2x 10inch thermos one on each side. They arent cooling it!!!!

I bought a set of au thermos that people use on kingswoods but they dont fit in the commodore with out MAJOR dramas... so i sold them. What are my options??? Im thinking of using a plastic manual/fan or a 16 inch thermo. advice would be awesome!!

Is it overheating at both cruise and idle? has it always done this, or only after your performance modifications?

What type of fan was on it originally? fixed mechanical or viscous clutch fan?

Did the steel fan keep it cool before it broke?
Assuming everything in the cooling system is in good shape?

If its getting hot at cruise, only a viscous clutch fan or heavy duty fixed fan will make a significant difference. If still hot at cruise with either of these, you have to look better radiator.

Maybe you should upgrade to a bigger radiator like a three core unit or something.

First thing i would do is put in the correct thermostat... dont make the mistake of not running one at all. on a real hottie I'd probably go maybe a 160'F to start with and then if its running too cold try a 180'F, you may have to swap between winter and summer but its a simple job.

Look at the thermostat and replace the original clutch fan. Thermo fans are not worth installing. The original fan is good enough.
